South Beach is THE place to be this week. Art Basel is in town and people from around the world are in attendance in hopes of purchasing some of the art on display.
National and International dealers showcase their treasures from December 5-8 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Everything from Old Masters to Contemporary Sculpture can be yours for the taking.
It can be quite the people watching experience with over 50,000 visitors in attendance. They don't just come for the art, but also the other unique experiences happening in the city. From film openings to pop up shops to great nightlife, there is something for everyone.
It is not just the art turning heads, but the celebrities that are in attendance as well. Just yesterday Val Kilmer was observed enjoying the show. And more are coming!
LA Hot Spot Bootsy Bellows decided to bring their game to Shore Club in Miami December 5-7 with a pop up show featuring art installations by Mr. Brainwash & Louis Carreon.
I spoke with John Terzain, co-owner of Bootsy Bellows about his interest in creating a pop up all the way in Miami to which he noted "We have a large population of friends and clientele in Miami, especially during Art Basel. My background is art so it has actually been a dream to throw an event at Art Basel but I have been waiting for the right time."
Apparently the time was right this year as he mentioned, "We are good friends with the artist Mr. Brainwash. When he talked to me about collaborating on an event around his installment, I jumped at the chance."
Another celebrity checking out the art scene is David Arquette. When asked who his favorite artists are, he stated "Mark Ryden, Rodd Shorr, Robert Williams, Robbie Conal, and Norman Rockwell."
Arquette didn't just come to see the art at the show. He plans to be part of the pop up show at Shore Club with an art installation of his own, and painting live the evening of December 7. You won't want to miss it!
