Note: Do not read on if you have not seen Season 10, Episode 20 of ABC's Grey's Anatomy, titled "Go It Alone.'"
I mentioned last week that I feel some nostalgia for "Grey's" of yore, and even one of you mentioned some "throwback" moments in the comments. This episode was full of them.
High Stakes, Emotionally Involving Cases
These used to happen every week. Meredith has to stay with her patient all night. Yang and Owen get super involved with the heart patient family. I'm still trying to figure out their role in moving her plot along. Was the angry husband thing just an excuse to play 'Something About You' and inspire Owen to go to Boston for the awards?
Intern Antics
Ok, so the best batch of interns are long gone, but these new guys aren't so bad. Jo's know it all-ness was pretty cute. Murphy cries in a hallway, Ben can't stay awake for his shifts, and even though Alex is all grown up, he's still sneaking around trying to handle two jobs at once.
Tear Jerking Us Around
Maybe it was my glass of Pinot Grigio, but I haven't cried during this show in a long time. When Yang walks in and sees Meredith and Owen, I lost it. They are the best friends, ever. Also, I don't care about April and Jackson, really, but that was a pretty gnarly fight. This is why you date the person you marry for a long period of time before actually marrying them. Save yourself the trouble.
Only four more episodes to go and they've already started promo-ing Yang's departure. Now that she's lost the Harper Avery, what's her next move? Was this Burke coming back thing a hoax? How many times can Derek and Meredith fight over who picks up the kids? Let me know what you think in the comments or @karenfratti.
"Grey's Anatomy" airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
