Welcome back to the second installment of my special series, The Rising Stars of Rap, where we look at a handful of musicians defining hip-hop going forward. This time around meet Jarren Benton.
From the age of six, rap and hip-hop appealed to rising star Benton, with his mother playing Beastie Boys and other artists around the house. Now older, wiser, and with his own family, Benton is working on his second album with an eye to bring his experience and vision together.
Benton's first album My Grandma's Basement, debuted at #4 on iTunes Hip-Hop Charts and #4 on Billboard's Heatseekers. He is currently on a 70-city tour alongside Tech N9ne and Freddie Gibbs.
