Note: Do not read on if you have not seen Season 11, Episode 3 of ABC's Grey's Anatomy, titled "Got to Be Real"
Give me a minute to take my foot out of my mouth. This week's episode made me happy for a few reasons.
1) Callie and Arizona finally have a fight about the baby, in the waiting room, and admit that Arizona does not want a baby. Careers, guys! It's because Arizona is a fellow and has too much work to do. And Callie is working with Owen (and Avery!) with vets and her robotics lab. There won't be enough time for a baby. But Callie thinks they can fight the odds. Why don't her and Owen just make some together? I'm not totally unsure that couldn't happen.
2) Meredith is all over Alex, since he's her new person and it's driving Jo insane. But they're just the best of friends and I love watching them together. He convinces her to research this Maggie and talk to Webber about it. She then convinces Webber to tell Maggie. He does; but she's not happy about it. Why wait a week, she asks? Nothing is every drama free or fake when the original crew starts meddling in each others' lives.
3) I was going to rant about the two Shepard siblings and their weird sibling rivalry. But then she gets Derek to yell about how mad he is at Meredith for "backing him into a wall." Meredith, meanwhile, rants to Alex about Derek just gave up and resents her now. He does -- did you see mad he was about her day drinking and taking a day off? She can't win. I want all the couples to just break up and re-mingle.
4) I am not, however, a fan of Bailey and Karev having to fight for the board seat. "Grey's" always plays with reality, so why couldn't they just turn that one seat into two so everyone can be friends? Because what if Alex leaves? Meredith will have no friends and Jo will be so very, very, irritating to watch heartbroken.
What do you think? Was Maggie out of hand? Derek? Let me know @karenfratti.
"Grey's Anatomy" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
